This weekend’s show will include a return appearance by Michelle Danner, the legendary Hollywood acting coach who is also co-founder of the Edgemar Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory. Michelle’s previous students include such A-list actors as Jason Alexander, Chris Rock, Marcia Cross, Seth MacFarlane, Christian Slater, Selma Hayek, Gerald Butler, Norman Reedus, Zooey Deschanel, Gabrielle Union, and Penelope Cruz.

Also an accomplished actress and director, Michelle recently completed principal filming of The Runner, an action thriller that marks her sixth effort as a director; The Runner stars Cameron Douglas and Edouard Phillipponnat and is slated for release later this year. Later this year, Michelle will direct actress Anne Archer in a stage production of A Ticket to the Circus, a one-woman show about Norris Church Mailer’s marriage to Norman Mailer. Michelle Danner will join us in our second hour.

For our listeners in Southern California, Bad Impulse, a psychological thriller directed by Michelle Danner, will open this year’s Cinema at the Edge Film Festival, Feb. 21-23, 2020 in Santa Monica, California. For tickets and more information, CinemaattheEdge.com.

This week’s show will also pay tribute to Robert Conrad, the iconic star of The Wild, Wild West, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Centennial and other TV series that one of our listeners called “the Brad Pitt of his day.” Robert Conrad passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the age of 84.

Longtime actor and stuntman Bob Herron was one of the five core stuntmen who worked with Robert Conrad worked with every week on The Wild, Wild West. Bob doubled for Ross Martin on The Wild, Wild West, but he also worked with Conrad at Warner Bros. during production of Hawaiian Eye. Bob shared some memories of working with Robert Conrad when he joined us on TV CONFIDENTIAL in October 2013. We’ll play excerpts of that conversation during our second hour. Also joining Bob will be Susan Kesler, author of The Wild, Wild West: The Series, one of the best biographies of a TV series ever written.

Also this week: We’ll mark the passing of screen legend Kirk Douglas with an encore presentation of our December 2016 centennial tribute to the Academy Award-winning actor. Kirk Douglas passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5 at age 103. Though mostly known for his work on the big screen, Douglas was no stranger to television, appearing frequently on late night talk shows and network variety specials throughout the 1960s and ’70s, as well as such notable made-for-TV movies as Mousey (1974) and Amos (1985).

Phil Gries put together a special collection of rarely heard audio clips of Kirk Douglas on television as part of The Sounds of Lost Television. The clips Phil selected give us a sense of who Douglas was, both as an actor and as a person, including his humanitarianism, his desire to seek social justice, his sense of humor, and his love of singing. We’ll replay our centennial tribute to Kirk Douglas during our first hour.
